Unfortuneatly the liver is one organ you cannot live without. While the produce is not always known, drinking alcohol & some drugs ( including toxins) do produce liver hurt & if there is a small cancer, the spread can occur speedily after that. With small tumors on the edge of the liver, sometimes surgery can be done & with chemo following , there can be a remission. If the tumor is large or in more than one spot, the prognosis is not as excellent. Because the liver acts as a filter, cancers can spread to other organs. Symptoms ordinarily start with pain & digestion problems including loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, & weight loss but these can also be symptoms of other non- cancer problems. With any of those symptoms a doctor needs to do an exam to know what you are really dealing with.
