I’m so sorry but his chances are not excellent. Pancreatic cancer is one of the more hard ones to battle and if it’s spread and is stage 4, it’s only possible to treat, not cure.
No, he won’t beat it. Chemo may prolong his life for a year or so, and make him a bit more comfortable – but he will not survive two years.
Sorry to say that his chances are not excellent – a stage 4 level of cancer of the pancreas and liver ordinarily means he is terminal – even with chemo. At this point, I would converse in to a name in hospice – the doctors want to do chemo because of the cash involved – if they just let him be with meds so he can delight in his left over time they don’t make as much and he will feel better – chemo will most likely not help and will make his left over time miserable. Ordinarily cancer of an organ like these – which moves blood throughout the body – is terminal – even if caught early on. Godspeed.
Having cancer in one of the major organs, such as the liver is fatal. I reckon his time is limited. If he goes through the cancer it may prolong his life, but what quality he may have with that is the problem. He will be sick all the time and weak. The cancer will not go away and he will be in much pain all the time. I reckon your family should prepare and delight in the time you have left together. Let God Bless You All.
Chemotherapy does NOT solve this problem. In fact, in my opinion, it makes the problem worse because it depletes the body of it’s defenses. The statistics are very terrible for these two types of cancers and do not even register on the chart for survival after 5 years. Chemotherapy only helps 2.1% of ALL cancers collective for a 5 year survival rate.
We know that 99% of ALL cancers are due to infections in the body and biofilm production is a major contributory factor. All infections eat up the body of it’s minerals and this causes cellular energy to be greatly depleted and this makes it very hard for the body to struggle any disease, especially cancer.
The best attempt a person can make at fighting cancer is to find the source of the infection(s) that are causing the problem, do all the things that truly make a body healthy. To just treat the cancer is like a dog chasing his tail, it makes you believe you are making progress, but the result is always the same.
The five steps to outrageous health are:

Cancer and heart disease are diseases of modern man. Primitive people did not even have ANY cavities, excellent jaw formations, and were resistant to diseases.
This type of information is not well accepted by the health check people, but the statistics are what they are and the truth is that the tools being used by health check people to struggle cancer are NOT working. If they were, cancer and heart disease would NOT be competing for the digit one killer slot in America today. $ Billions of dollars are being washed-out and the race to find a cure is the incorrect direction, it should be a race to clean up the “root causes” of cancer. It would change the focus from PROFIT to health.

5 year survival = 0 in this situation – if the diagnosis is right.
I’m a retired health check oncologist – USA – 20 years experience.
I washed-out most of my time trying to talk people out of chemotherapy in this situation. Many people will not take NO for an answer. We simply do not have a excellent treatment for pancreatic cancer spread to the liver. At best the treatment may buy a few months at a large deprivation with dubious quality of superfluous time.
I’m assuming you want the unvarnished truth. You don’t need to tell your stepfather if he prefers to live in hope. We don’t like to extinguish all hope for the patient. I have always thought the family should know the real situation since they will be vacant on. I did try to clarify the situation openly for the patient, but some would not accept the fact that we don’t have a cure for this disease. This is human scenery. You learn this as an oncologist.
It is right that some oncologists will simply treat without explaining. It is much nearer and simpler and more profitable this way. I was not one of those. But I retired early – before age 50. Trying to clarify terrible news is like beating your head against a wall. Disowning and rage are powerful forces in these situations.
I’m so sorry to hear about your step-dad. My mother was diagnosed on April 1 of this year and was deceased by July 30. She also had pancreatic cancer that had metastasized to her liver.

I had lost both my parents to the hideous beast known as cancer! My father had fought it for a darn long time, he should had died way before my mom!
