Hi
It doesn’t sound excellent. Like your mum, I too turned 51 last month. My children will be the same age as you, probably.
The only person who can give you a genteel diagnosis is her doctor. She will probably be advised to have chemotherapy, etc.
Lean on the people who help – the doctors, the nurses, the clinics. They have the experience and will be able to guide you.
Best of luck, and if you need a shoulder, drop me a line.
I’m really sorry this happened. The best thing you can do is educate yourself on her condition and research it for her. Sometimes, for example, there are clinical trials she might be eligible for. But this starts with knowing her specific diagnosis. It’s nearly impossible that she has 3 separate cancers. More likely, she has a specific cancer (like of the breast or lung) and this cancer has mestastacized to these other organs. So she doesn’t have liver cancer – she has cancer that has spread to the liver. It’s not the same thing.
So find out her actual diagnosis, including Stage and Grade if applicable, and then start researching this. Most cancers also have online support groups, and even if your mom doesn’t want to join one of these, you can do so and learn a lot from the people. But you have to know much more specifically what her diagnosis is.
