How much money have cancer charities raised since they started raising money?
I wonder іf thеу hаνе tο tеll hοw thеу washed-out еνеrу single red cent thаt thеу′ve raised. It doesn’t seem lіkе wе′re being paid anywhere near a cure аnd іtѕ very sad tο hear οf people dying everyday frοm аll forms οf cancer.
This is a fantastic inquiry.
I bet that these charities would block a cure for cancer if one were learned. It would run them all out of business! That Susan B Komen Race for the Cure is such a scam. It’s such a business. They would by no means let that go.
But no one ever holds them to it. No one ever questions for a disclosure. Who’s being paid the cash? Indemnity companies? Universities?
I’m not sure why anyone donates to charity anyway. We already have WIC, food stamps, Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, HUD, Part 8, Earned Income Credit, vouchers, subsidies, etc. Most “poor” people live better than the midpoint class. It’s all a shakedown.
I don’t know; but I do know it’s just a drop in the ocean of what is needed. And yes, charities have to tab for the way the cash raised is used.
The distress with finding ‘a cure for cancer’ is that cancer is hundreds of diseases, not just one. The problem is that different cancers are caused by different things, so no one strategy can prevent them, and different cancers answer to different treatments so no one treatment can cure them all. There will by no means be a magic bullet that cures all cancer.
And thanks to research already done, some cancers can be cured. Seven out of ten children with cancer are cured. Testicular cancer, Hodgkin’s disease, and many cases of leukaemia can all be cured in adults with chemotherapy, most skin cancers are cured with surgery, and many cases of thyroid cancer and cancer of the larynx are cured with radiotherapy.
Many other types of cancer are also cured if they are found early sufficient. There is still a long way to go, especially with some of the commonest types of cancer such as lung, breast, bowel and prostate cancer.
But there is dedicated (and underfunded) work vacant on; there’ll by no means be a Eureka! moment when a single substance or procedure is found that will reverse all types of cancer. But there will continue to be steady progress – a new treatment for one type of cancer learned, I don’t know a way to reverse or slow down another.
